About the Event:

Island Roots is a free event for youth aged 14-24 to recognize National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on  Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 from 9:00 am—1:00 pm at Bishop Museum.  Island Roots will feature KSSK DJ Sweetie Pacarro, a Slam Poetry workshop by Kealoha, lunch, prizes, and the “HIV in Hawaii” video presentation. 

The event hopes to engage Hawaii’s youth in the fight against AIDS and educate them on how to protect themselves from HIV and other STDs.

Event Schedule:

9:00: Welcome

9:00 - 10:00: Slam Poetry

10:00 - 11:30: Video and HIV 101

11:30 - 12:30: Lunch and Prizes.

12:30 - 1:00: Slam Poetry by Ben
