Trash Or Treausre?
Recently upgraded your computer or office furniture? Have
clothing that no longer fits? A wheelchair or crutches
no longer in use? A vehicle you just can't sell?
Items that your household or place of business can no longer
use could go to great lengths to stretch Life Foundation's
budget or assist a person affected by HIV disease.
In-king donations are an appreciated gift at Life Foundation
as long as the item is actually useable and the donor is
willing to work with us on scheduling pick-up or delivery. We respectfully
ask that donors do not divert staff and volunteer
time away from people in need to simply unload your trash
or be an immediate pick-up service.
Categories for in-kind donations typically fall into three
main categories:
• Office Materials that save Life Foundation administrative costs, such as copy paper,
pens, printers, computers, desks and file cabinets are examples.
• Household Goods that can assist someone on a limited income attempting to re-start
their lives with HIV might need. Most Life Foundation clients are on limited incomes
and/or homeless or near homelessness. For these clients, the littlest things can make
a big difference. Examples include beds, bedding, clothers, alarm clocks, paper towels
and canned or dry foods.
• Children/Infant Items are
desperately needed for families with children that are
affected by HIV. Again, as most clients are on
limited incomes, items such as
diapers, cribs and school supplies become luxury items.

Can't sell that car? Regardless of its condition, you can donate
your car, truck, motorcycle or boat to Kokua In Kind, which will sell the vehicle
and then give the proceed to Life Foundation. Kokua In Kind will even pick it
up and provide you with paperwork for a tax deduction. For information, call
(808) 834-6603 or visit www.kokuainkind.com.
With questions, please contact Donald L. Bentz, Life Foundation's Director of
Development, at (808) 521-2437, ext. 238, or at dbentz@lifefoundation.org.
